One of my smiles:  chocolate biscuits from England. Yum.

The high temp. tomorrow is supposed to be 73 degrees.  73.  I love this time of year.  Spring itself is something to smile about.

I hope you're all having fabulous weeks, but if not, I hope you can still dig up something that makes you smile.

Be well!

My smile:  watching my daughter wake up.  She stretches just like an adult.  :)

My smile:

Ibuprofen.

Too tired to elaborate right now,

Be well, my friends.

My smile:

One day I will relearn the definition of sleep.

My smile:

I have a 9-day-old daughter, and I love and like her even more than I'd imagined I would.  There were some unexpected complications, and her entrance into the world wasn't quite what I'd expected or planned, but that's life.  :)

Hope your days are equally full.

My smile:

Some days you really have to reach to find that smile.  Oh, here's one:  I'm pretty sure I have a cold, and not the flu.  :)

And here's another:  it can ALWAYS be worse.

Only elephants have 22-month-long pregnancies.

I can has perzpective. *g*

My smile:

Spring is kinda-sorta around the corner.  OK, so it snowed a little today.  But it didn't really stick.  And OK, so it's rainy, cold, and gray outside at this exact moment.  I know spring is still out there, giggling and playing hide and seek, and I'll catch her soon enough. :)

lerdo: (Perfect Imperfections - unexpectedbox)
My huge smile:  It's 65 degrees here right now.  65.  In February.  :D

What's yours?

My smiles:

+  I have Fire in the Ice waiting for me on the DVR as a reward for the insane amounts of cleaning and nesting I have been doing lately.  (DH thinks I have officially lost my mind because I've had an unwatched Bones ep sitting for almost 2 weeks.  *g*)
+  Who needs heaven when I have flannel sheets in the winter?
+  My stomach gets in the way, and I can't see my feet very well, but I am 37 weeks + 3 days pregnant today, and I still feel good and have plenty of energy.  This is more than I ever expected; I am intensely grateful.
+  The Steelers won the Super Bowl.  As a Steelers fan by proxy, this is good news.  :)  I could care less on my own, but loyalty to DH and bro-in-law mean I am at least happy that they're happy.

I skipped last week, so if you want to put stuff from then, too, please feel free. :)  Be well, everyone, especially if you're finding it difficult to find things to smile about right now.

It's alive!  (Well, I am, anyway.)  I'm hoping to begin getting caught up on comments, cards, friend requests, etc. starting tomorrow.  My goal is to be done by the time the baby's born, at which point I'll proceed to get behind again.  *g*  So if you haven't heard from me re: any of the above, I pinky-swear that I'm just behind; I'm not deliberately ignoring anyone.

Hugs and smiles all around, folks.  And stay warm!

Lots to write about after an absence from LJ and the Intarwebs. But in a little while I'm meeting with a prospective pediatrician for the not-yet-here baby, so this is going to be short. I have so much catching up to do, but I'm looking forward to it. I missed you guys. :) How are y'all doing?  Any memorable holiday moments, bad or good?  Did you eat some fantastic food, or make some resolutions, or just refrain from murdering various relatives?  Tell me how you're doing.

When life gives you lemons, you paint that shit gold. )

And yes, I know it's not Wednesday, but lots of folks are back at school or work or are just going through post-holiday withdrawals, so Monday smiles it is!

My smile:

My down comforter.  :)  It, along with my DH's furnace-like properties, makes winter slightly more bearable.

Your turn, my lovelies.

Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart... )

My smiles:

Had dinner with friends on Saturday night, and there was much laughter. So my smiles this week are friends and laughter; they're among the best life has to offer.

ETA:  There's [livejournal.com profile] doc_3  & [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper77  fic to be had this week, and while I haven't read either yet, I'm confident I'll be thrilled by both.  I would never have known either of them except for fic, and that would mean I was two friends poorer.

Friends and strangers alike, "May you live all the days of your life." (Jonathan Swift)

My smile, my tears, and my hope:

"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.

I promise you, we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem.

But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years -- block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.
...

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.

And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too."

I don't think Barack Obama is anything more or less than a man.  I don't think he's going to save the world or make this country into something shiny and new.  I don't agree with all his policies and beliefs.

But I do believe he's smart and sensible, kind and compassionate, and genuinely interested in serving his country and his world.  We need a steady hand, and I believe he has that.  I'm tired of America being seen as the mean, ill-tempered bully of the globe.  No country can afford to conduct itself that way; we've done so at our -- and the world's -- peril.  Being president of the United States of America isn't a joke or a chance to run roughshod over peoples' rights; I believe he knows that and will remember that as he governs in this extremely difficult time.

This IS history in the making.  He is of mixed race.  He is the son of an immigrant.  In his own words, he "...was never the likeliest candidate for this office."  He has inspired millions.  I didn't vote for him for any of those reasons, but they are nonetheless significant.  The pride and joy that filled my heart yesterday and continue to fill it today are nearly indescribable.  Cliched though it may be, I will remember this moment for the rest of my life and tell my future children about the day millions of Americans braved bad weather, long lines, broken voting machines, and their own cynicism and mistrust in order to perform this sacred civic duty.  I'm thrilled we elected Obama, but what makes me happiest is just that people went out and voted.  People fight, kill, and die for that privilege; it's hard to overstate its importance.

Now the real work begins...for all of us.

My smiles:

1. Rachel Maddow handed David Frum his ass on a gilded platter -- and she did it with such grace & civility. :)

2. Two squirrels were chasing each other around and playing tag in my yard earlier this week.

3. Thank you, Campbell Brown, for being a voice of sanity.

I forgot that I might see so many beautiful things. )

My smiles:

1.  The beautiful people who helped me feel less morose yesterday.  *hugs them all*  Thank you.
2.  I made breakfast for dinner last night -- blueberry pancakes.  They were damn good. :)
3.  I feel like baking, so tonight I'm going to make whole wheat pumpkin bread or blueberry muffins.
4.  Every day is a new day.  Kinda neat, no?

There are folks on the f-list who are struggling right now.  People struggle all the time; we just don't always know about it.  Anyway, that's why this Wednesday Smiles post is going up a bit early.

If you have a reason(s) to smile, please post it.  Better yet, if you can reach out to someone else who needs a smile, please do it.  Life can be difficult, and it is so easy to feel lost, alone, and powerless sometimes.  Let's help each other when and where we can, even if all we can do is say, "I'm here, I hear you, and I wish you well."

So to whoever needs to hear it, I'm here, I hear you, and I wish you well.

Selfishness and separation have led me to believe that the world is not my problem. )
